Governor attends inauguration of Haibargaon Railway Station under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme
Assam Governor Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya today attended the inauguration of Haibargaon Railway Station, which has been redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Scheme at a programme held at Haibargaon railway station in Nagaon district. 
It may be noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi today virtually inaugurated 103 stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme across 18 states and Union Territories of the country. The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme is a government project to improve railway stations across the nation. The project aims to make the stations more modern and comfortable for the passengers. Under the scheme the upgraded stations henceforth will feature modern facilities with local culture. They offer better services for passengers, including special features for divyangjans. The goal of the scheme is to make the railway stations cleaner, more comfortable and easier for everyone to use while following eco-friendly practices. 
Attending the occasion at Haibargaon Railway station, Governor Shri Acharya termed the development as historic and a moment of pride for the people of Haibargaon and its adjoining areas. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister  Narendra Modi and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for their visionary leadership that led to Haibargaon being included as one of the stations under the scheme. He described the occasion as more than the inauguration, which represents the collective aspirations of the people of Assam.   
Shri Acharya highlighted that Indian Railways has undergone a remarkable transformation over the past decade, evolving from a transport service to a vital instrument of national unity, regional integration, and inclusive development. He said that under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, Haibargaon station has been comprehensively redeveloped to reflect both modern amenities and Assamese heritage. The station showcases local art and cultural motifs such as the Gamosa, Bihu dance, and Ahom architectural elements, promoting the spirit of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat.”
Governor Shri Acharya noted that the redevelopment of the state will significantly boost connectivity, commerce and passenger facilities in the region. The station is poised to become a critical gateway to major tourist destinations including Kaziranga National Park, Laokhowa Wildlife Sanctuary, and Bordowa Than. He also informed that 50 more stations across Assam will undergo a facelift under the scheme. 
In sync with the Green India and Swachh Bharat missions, the redeveloped Haibargaon Railway station integrates eco-friendly features such as solar energy systems, rainwater harvesting, and green building practices—underscoring the government’s commitment to sustainable development. Reflecting on the transformative changes in the Northeast over the past one decade, Governor Shri Acharya stated that the Prime Minister’s vision of ‘Act East, Act Fast, Act First’ is transforming the region through expanded rail, air, and road connectivity. 
He affirmed that the journey towards India@2047—a developed, inclusive, and green India—will see Assam and the Northeast emerge as one of the most vibrant and prosperous regions in the country. The Governor called upon citizens to take collective responsibility for the upkeep, cleanliness, and vibrancy of the new Haibargaon station. “This is not just a government project—it is a shared dream brought to life through your trust and cooperation,” the Governor added. 
Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita,  Minister, Science, Technology and Climate Change Government of Assam Keshab Mahanta, MLA  Rupak Sharma,MLA Jitu Goswami, MLA Shashikant Das, General Manager, Northeast Frontier Railway, Chetan Kumar Srivastava, DRM, Lumding division, Sameer Lohani along with a host of other dignitaries were present at the inaugural ceremony.
