Crucial BJP-AGP Meeting at Vajpayee Bhawan in Presence of the Chief Minister
A significant meeting between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) was held today at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhawan, the state headquarters of the BJP, Assam Pradesh. The meeting was held in the presence of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, State BJP President Shri Dilip Saikia, General Secretary Shri Pallab Lochan Das, AGP President Shri Atul Bora, Working President Shri Keshab Mahanta, and senior AGP leader and Member of Parliament Shri Phani Bhushan Choudhury.
The meeting involved detailed discussions regarding the two vacant Rajya Sabha seats from Assam. In a press release issued by State BJP Chief Spokesperson Manoj Baruah, it was informed that, in accordance with the spirit of alliance, it was decided that the AGP will contest the Rajya Sabha seat which was previously represented by AGP, and similarly , the BJP will contest the seat that was earlier held by a BJP representative.
It was further mentioned in the statement that during the upcoming BJP State Election Committee meeting scheduled for 3rd June, a panel of three candidates will be prepared for the party’s nomination and forwarded to the national committee. On the other hand, the AGP will finalize its candidate independently.
Additionally, the meeting resolved to strengthen joint efforts to reach out to the public in the evolving political landscape of Assam . There was also an extensive discussion on strategies for upcoming elections in the state, as stated in the press release.
